Effective: 13 Feb 2026

These terms govern your use of MovingToIceland.com ("the platform," "we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

We have tried to write these terms clearly and without unnecessary legal jargon. They are, however, a binding agreement. Please read them.

The platform is currently operated under the trading name MovingToIceland.com, based in Iceland. We will update this section with our registered company details (ehf) once incorporation is complete.

1. What the platform is

MovingToIceland.com is a relocation platform for people moving to or living in Iceland. It provides informational content, interactive tools, a marketplace, and connections to local businesses and services.

  • The platform includes:

  • Informational articles and guides

  • A relocation checklist

  • An apartment browsing tool

  • A car marketplace where users can list vehicles for sale

  • Insurance quote comparisons

  • A job listings board

  • Community event listings

  • Icelandic language learning tools

  • A store for physical and digital products

  • A newsletter

  • User accounts and dashboards

The platform is available in English, Icelandic (partly), and Polish (partly). Where any translated version of these terms conflicts with the English version, the English version applies.

2. Who can use the platform

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the platform.

By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Accounts

Creating an account

You can register with an email address and password, or through Google authentication. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at movingtoiceland.com/contact.

Your account, your responsibility

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your credentials or allow others to use your account.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time through your dashboard. Account deletion has a 14-day grace period. If you log back in within that window, your account is reactivated. After 14 days, your account and associated content (listings, event submissions, saved data, and preferences) are permanently deleted.

If you need immediate deletion without the grace period, contact us at movingtoiceland.com/contact and we will process it promptly.

We retain records of any store transactions as required by Icelandic accounting and tax law, even after account deletion.

4. Acceptable use

Use the platform in good faith and in accordance with applicable law. Specifically, do not:

  • Provide false or misleading information in your account, listings, or submissions

  • Post fraudulent car listings, event submissions, or job postings

  • List a vehicle you do not legally own or have authority to sell

  • Use the platform to harass, deceive, or defraud other users or partners

  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the platform without our written permission

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the platform, other accounts, or our systems

  • Interfere with the platform's operation or infrastructure

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose

  • Redistribute or commercially exploit our content without permission

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We will generally try to contact you first, but are not required to do so in cases of clear or serious violations.

5. Not professional advice

The platform provides general information about relocating to and living in Iceland. This includes content about immigration, housing, employment, insurance, vehicles, and related topics.

None of this is legal, financial, tax, immigration, or professional advice. We are not lawyers, accountants, immigration consultants, or licensed advisors. The information on the platform may be incomplete, may not reflect recent changes in law or policy, and may not apply to your specific situation.

You should always verify important information with the relevant Icelandic authorities or a qualified professional before making decisions that affect your legal status, finances, or wellbeing.

6. Content you create

What you post

When you create content on the platform (car listings, event submissions, checklist items, profile information, job listings, or any other user-generated content), you retain ownership of that content.

By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, and store that content on the platform for as long as it remains active. This license exists solely to operate the platform. We will not sell your content or use it for unrelated purposes.

When you remove your content or delete your account, this license ends, and we will delete your content in accordance with the account deletion process described in Section 3.

Accuracy and honesty

You are responsible for the accuracy of the content you post. Car listings must honestly describe the vehicle's condition, mileage, and history. Event submissions must reflect real events. Job listings must represent genuine opportunities.

We do not verify user-submitted content before it appears on the platform. We may review, edit, or remove content that violates these terms or that we reasonably believe is inaccurate, misleading, or harmful.

Content that is not yours

Do not post content that infringes someone else's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights. If you believe content on the platform infringes your rights, contact us at movingtoiceland.com/contact with details, and we will investigate.

7. The car marketplace

The car marketplace allows users to list vehicles for sale and browse listings posted by other users. This is a peer-to-peer feature. MovingToIceland.com provides the listing platform, nothing more.

We are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We do not verify vehicle condition, ownership, legal status, or the accuracy of listings. We do not handle payments, arrange transfers of ownership, or provide escrow services.

Any transaction you enter into through the marketplace is entirely between you and the other party. You are responsible for your own due diligence: inspecting the vehicle, verifying ownership, and ensuring the transaction complies with Icelandic law.

Contact information that sellers provide (phone number, email) is shared at the seller's discretion. Both parties are responsible for handling each other's personal information appropriately and in accordance with applicable data protection law.

8. Partner connections and third-party services

The platform connects users with local businesses and service providers ("partners") across housing, transport, insurance, employment, and other areas. When you submit an inquiry, request a quote, or interact with a partner through the platform, you are entering a relationship with that partner, not with us.

We are an intermediary. We do not guarantee, endorse, or take responsibility for:

  • The quality, accuracy, or availability of any partner's products or services

  • Any quotes, offers, or pricing provided by partners

  • The outcome of any transaction or relationship between you and a partner

  • Any loss or damage arising from your dealings with a partner

We select partners in good faith, but we are not responsible for their conduct. Any complaints about a partner's services should be directed to the partner.

9. The store

Products and services

We sell physical products, digital products, and consultation services directly through our store. For store purchases, MovingToIceland.com is the seller.

Prices are displayed in Icelandic króna (ISK) and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. We reserve the right to change prices at any time. Price changes do not affect orders already placed.

Your right to cancel (withdrawal)

In accordance with Icelandic and EEA consumer protection law:

Physical products

You have 14 days from the date you receive the product to withdraw from the purchase, for any reason. The product must be returned in its original condition. We will refund the purchase price, including standard delivery costs, within 14 days of receiving the returned product. You bear the cost of return shipping.

Digital products

When you purchase a digital product for immediate download or access, you will be asked to consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that you are waiving your 14-day withdrawal right. If you do not consent, delivery will begin after the withdrawal period has passed.

Consultation services

You may cancel a scheduled consultation free of charge up to 24 hours before the appointment. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment are non-refundable. If we cancel or reschedule, you may choose a new time or receive a full refund.

Digital product delivery

Digital products are delivered through the platform. You receive a personal, non-transferable license to use the product for your own purposes. You may not redistribute, resell, or share digital products.

10. Intellectual property

Our content

All content created by MovingToIceland.com, including articles, guides, design, code, branding, and the platform itself, is our intellectual property or used under license. You may not copy, redistribute, or commercially use our content without written permission.

You are welcome to share links to our content and to quote briefly for personal, non-commercial purposes with attribution.

Your content

As described in Section 6, you retain ownership of what you post. The license you grant us is limited to platform operation.

11. Privacy and data

We collect and process personal data in accordance with Icelandic law and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). How we collect, use, store, and protect your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

By using the platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Icelandic law:

MovingToIceland.com is provided "as is." We make reasonable efforts to keep the platform accurate, functional, and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free content.

We are not liable for:

  • Losses arising from transactions between users (including car marketplace sales)

  • Losses arising from your dealings with third-party partners

  • Inaccuracies in user-generated content

  • Temporary unavailability of the platform

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Icelandic law.

13. Suspension and termination

By you

You may stop using the platform at any time. You can delete your account as described in Section 3.

By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these terms

  • You engage in fraudulent, abusive, or harmful behavior

  • Your account appears to be compromised and we need to protect it

  • We are required to do so by law

Where practical, we will notify you in advance and explain the reason. In cases of clear or serious violations, we may act immediately.

If your account is terminated for a violation, your content will be removed from the platform. You may request a copy of your personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page.

For material changes, meaning those that affect your rights or obligations, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the platform and delete your account.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland.

If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us first at movingtoiceland.com/contact. We will make a good-faith effort to resolve the matter informally.

If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, it shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the Icelandic courts. The District Court of Reykjavík (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur) shall serve as the court of first instance.

16. General

  • If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

  • Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.

  • These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MovingToIceland.com regarding your use of the platform.
